Job Description
This position will be part of the ECC legal support team, with primary responsibility for providing innovative legal support for Canada sales in all segments, including Service Provider, Enterprise, Public Sector, Global accounts, Commercial, Channels and Services, with a special focus on driving efficiencies in contract support approach as part of a collaborative sub-team.
Structure, draft and negotiate non-standard contracts of major impact on Cisco and its business with customers, suppliers and partners. Agreement types include: direct sale, RFP/RFIs, resale, nondisclosure, MOUs, license/sublicense, evaluation, purchase, dispute settlements and alliance agreements.
Responsible for communicating strategic policies and ensuring consistency with business objectives, while maintaining Ciscos high standards of integrity and ethical and transparent conduct.
Determine appropriate action/solutions to more complex legal and business issues dealing with clients and customers.
- Typically requires law degree or equivalent professional qualification, but consideration may be given for additional industry experience.
- Must have a minimum of 2-3 years experience as a lawyer, or 6-8 years experience as a paralegal/law clerk in contract management and negotiation of complex business transactions in a high-tech sales environment, preferably in an in-house sales organization.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial contracts and business law.
- The ability to read, understand and draft complex contract provisions.
- Bilingual skills are a plus (French/English).
- Must be articulate, demonstrate superior communication, negotiation, people and organizational skills, and be comfortable and confident in dealing directly with all levels of management.
- Knowledge of networking, telecom or service providers or software industries is a strong plus.
